Class Descriptions
Tiny Ballerinas and Pre Ballet | |
Tiny Ballerinas - ages 3.5 and 4. Pre-Ballet ages 4.5 and 5.
Ballet 1 with Tap & Jazz
Students will develop ballet fundamentals including body placement and positions, French terminology, connecting steps, and counting musical signatures. Students will have tap and or jazz for the last 15 minutes of most classes.
Ages 6 and 7. Recommended: One to two classes weekly.
Ballet 2
Students broaden their basic ballet technique. Their age allows them to coordinate more steps together, expanding their ballet vocabulary. Fundamentals of turning begin. Ages 7 to 9. Recommended: One to two classes weekly. Students taking two ballet classes a week can add Tap & Jazz class for a significant discount. | ![]() |
Ballet 3
For students beginning the intermediate level. This includes body placement, stretch and strengthening, ballet vocabulary, and becoming aware of why ballet gives dancers a strong foundation in dance technique.
Recommended: Two classes a week. Students taking two ballet classes a week can add Tap & Jazz class for a significant discount.
Pointe Prep
By invitation this class focuses on the importance of pulled up muscles, engaged core, and strong feet and ankles. Some students will receive their pointe shoes for this class, while others are still preparing for them. To receive pointe shoes one must be of adequate age, have strong muscles, proper body placement, have a concentrated work ethic, and take three or more ballet classes a week. The student is evaluated before receiving pointe shoes. Pointe Shoe Preparation or Dancing en Pointe requires three or more ballet classes a week.
Recreational dancers, not preparing for pointe shoes, may take from this level as well with no minimum weekly class requirement.
Ballet 4 - En Pointe Program | |
| Full knowledge of body placement, technique, and vocabulary. Focus on individual weak areas, drills, balance, strength training, and pointe work. Students take at least three technique classes a week with pointe work during class. Every other week, the students have classes in jazz, modem/lyrical, or tap to explore how their ballet technique relates to these other dance disciplines. It is highly recommended that the student take a fourth ballet class. Students in this program can add Tap & Jazz class for a significant discount. | ![]() |
Tap & Jazz
Class begins with a jazz. Class instruction is influenced by a variety of styles, including Broadway Fosse, Limon & Horten modern and hip hop street. Tap class will study old-school Broadway, swing time, and funky rhythmic hoofer styles. A great way to let loose your Friday evenings!
Rehearsals
Extra rehearsals will be called for principle, soloist, and minor roles during evenings when the studio is free, weekends, and spring break. Rehearsals are free of charge and mandatory.
